Early Voting Begins Monday

Early voting for the May 9 election begins Monday, April 27 and runs through May 5. West U. voters will choose four council members out of six candidates, with Mayor Bob Kelly running unopposed.

Current Councilwoman Phyllis Cohen has hit her term limit, and is ineligible to run again Councilman Michael Talianchich resigned earlier this year due to illness. The remaining council members – Chuck Guffey and Bob Fry – are running to serve a second term. With four council seats available, four other candidates are running, for a total of six names on the ballot. George Boehme, Phillip Bryant, Steven Segal and Brian Hoogendam are all asking West U. residents for their vote.

Early voting by personal appearance will be conducted each weekday at City Hall

Council Chambers, 3800 University Blvd., between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5

p.m. on April 27 - May 1 and between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. May 4 – 5.

Applications for ballot by mail shall be mailed to Thelma Lenz, 3800 University

Blvd., West University Place, TX, 77005, and must be received no later than the

close of business on May 1.

Polling places for the general election are:

- Precinct Number 15

- St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 5308 Buffalo Speedway

- Precinct Number 87

- Scout House, 6108 Edloe

- Precinct Number 133

- Colonial Park, 4130 Byron

- Precinct Number 183

- Community Building, 6104 Auden
