Progress of the paving of Kirby Drive near the Rice Village is in the final stage of segment three, between the intersections of Dunstan Street and Rice Boulevard. The west side lanes of segment three are complete, and all focus is on the east-side lanes.
Contractors anticipate the opening of the eastside intersections of Kirby Drive with Tangley Street and Dunstan Street on Wednesday, Sept. 3. When those intersections are opened, the eastside intersection of Kirby Drive and Bolsover Street will be closed.
The City of Houston anticipates bidding segment four of the project, from just south of Kirby Drive’s intersection with Robinhood Street north past West U. city limits, in September. Work should begin, at the earliest, January of 2009.
