Today the Chris Bell for Texas Senate campaign announced that former President Bill Clinton will come to Houston on Monday, Oct. 13 to headline a fundraising event for Democrat Chris Bell, candidate in the special election for State Senate District 17.
Ambassador Arthur Schechter will host the fundraiser at his home Monday evening. Bernard Rapoport will serve as “Honorary Chair” of the event.
The special election to be held on Election Day, Nov. 4, will fill the vacancy created by Sen. Kyle Janek’s resignation. A runoff will follow if no candidate in the special election gets a majority of the vote. On the ballot are Democrats Bell and Stephanie Simmons and Republicans Austen Furse, West U. resident, businessman and former George H.W. Bush Administration appointee, Former Harris County felony court judge Joan Huffman, a Southside Place resident, and Harris County Republican precinct chair Grant Harpold.
