The rise, which came on the heels of a six-cent-plus increase the week before, brought the average cost for a gallon of unleaded regular to $2.63.
The current cost compares with the national average that increased 1.8 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.83 per gallon, according to gasoline price website HoustonGasPrices.com.
Including the change in gas prices in West U during the past week, prices yesterday were 25.7 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 11.4 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.
The national average has increased 9.3 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 27.9 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
