Get ready for rain through Thursday morning, possible street flooding

The first sprinkles of a tropical weather system have arrived in Bellaire and West University, and it’s expected to stay through Thursday morning, dumping between 3-5 inches of rain in bands.

A flash flood watch has been issued from 1 a.m. Wednesday through 7 a.m. Thursday.

Forecasters say it’s tough to predict, at this stage, what areas could be hit hardest and how bayous could be impacted.

The best news from the National Weather Service’s Houston office is that the system is scattered, making the likelihood only about 20 percent that it could turn into a tropical depression.

And the most solid advice: Stay up on the storm’s development, and be prepared for street flooding.
