Government Officials And Academicians To Discuss Texas And The Election During Oct. 20 Forum At Rice University

Representatives of city and county government will join Rice University faculty for a panel discussion of “Texas and the Presidential Election” at Rice University Oct. 20.

The free public forum will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Room 117 in the Humanities Building on the Rice campus, 6100 Main St.

Panelists include Ada Edwards, deputy chief of staff of neighborhoods for the city of Houston; Sylvia R. Garcia, Harris County commissioner for Precinct 2; Michael Lindsay, assistant professor of sociology and assistant director of Rice’s Center on Race, Religion and Urban Life; and Bob Stein, the Lena Gohlman Fox Professor of Political Science. Stephen Klineberg, professor of sociology, will serve as moderator.

The program is part of the speaker series for the Houston Enriches Rice Education Project, an innovative curricular and research initiative dedicated to advancing Rice’s relationship with the larger Houston community and enhancing faculty research and both undergraduate and graduate education.
