The U.S. Census Bureau has deemed April 10 as Census Blitz Day, and Harris County is taking part in a full line-up of community events to forge one last push for residents to complete and mail back their Census questionnaires.
“This weekend is Harris County’s chance to create a surge in our current Census response rate,” said County Judge Ed Emmett. “We will be on the ground at city celebrations, chili cook-offs, soccer tournaments and more to ensure that our residents understand the importance of the Census and in turn, mail back their forms.”
Mid-April marks the deadline for mailing back Census questionnaires. In May, Census workers will begin going door-to-door to collect information from those households that did not return their forms via mail.
