HAZMAT emergency at 610/59 after tanker trunk splits on ramp

May 10, 2019 by Charlotte Aguilar

Richmond Avenue at the West Loop and the southbound ramp from the 610 to the 59 are closed as hazardous materials first responders try to remove a tanker and its chemicals that split this morning (Friday, May 10) on the slick roadway.

ABC-13 is reporting that sodium bromide was one of the chemicals being transported, and crews were seen wearing their protective gear at the site — although traffic is being permitted in both directions on the West Loop.

Still, increasingly heavy congestion is reported in all directions on both the 610 and 59.

Current road conditions are available at houstontranstar.com or the @houstontranstar account on Twitter.
