HISD’s graduating seniors were offered $92,957,003 in college scholarships this year. That’s $16.2 million more than was offered last year.
HISD students applied for and received 5,158 scholarship offers with many students receiving multiple offers. Of that number, 4551 were offered in academics and 270 were offered in athletics.
Schools and universities offering scholarships include local, state and several prestigious military and Ivy League schools including West Point, Harvard, Yale and Duke University.
More than $17.8 million dollars in college scholarships offers were made to HISD students who will be the first in their family to attend college. In creating a college bound culture, the district is seeing more students offered scholarships than ever before.
