Houston ISD Superintendent Terry Grier received a late Christmas gift: two bonuses totaling more than $68,000 for his job performance last school year.
While student achievement generally improved under Grier, the gains were not large enough to meet 45 percent of the targets the school board set for him. Still, the progress and his overall leadership were enough to net him the bonuses, based on his job evaluation and an analysis of student data.
