The National CSTEM challenge will take place this year from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the George R. Brown Convention Center, 1001 Avenida de las Americas, on Saturday.
Members of the greater Houston community are encouraged to come cheer on HISD students as they compete against each other and teams from other school districts.
Students from almost three dozen HISD schools will be participating in the event this year, in activities such as creative writing, sculpture and robotics. Robotics competitions will take place at 9:45 a.m. and 1 p.m., with awards ceremonies following (for all events) at 11:30 a.m. and 3:15 p.m., respectively.
The National CSTEM challenge is designed to allow teams of students from all grade levels (elementary, middle, and high) to work collaboratively to solve technical problems related to communication, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (CSTEM).
There will be over 50 Pre K-12 schools from Texas, Maryland, and Mississippi participating in the competition.
