Houston ISD announced that it will open for classes Wednesday (Sept. 18), although afterschool activities have been canceled as a tropical depression continues to pound the Gulf Coast.
Houston Community College canceled classes for the day, as have most school districts closer to the coast that have already experienced street flooding.
Here is the statement from HISD:
All HISD schools and district offices will operate under normal schedules today, Wednesday, September 18, no closures or delays. All HISD afterschool activities and athletic events will be cancelled. The district will continue to monitor weather conditions as the day progresses, and we will keep you informed of any impacts to schedules.
