The city of Houston issued a boil-water notice Sunday after a power issue compromised safety at one of its water purification plants. West University, which gets a portion of its water from Houston, said the notice would affect only its customers on Law Street, while Bellaire did not immediately respond whether its customers should follow the order.
Houston ISD also did not react immediately to the situation, which is expected to continue into Tuesday. UPDATE: HISD announced Sunday night that school is canceled on Monday.
Under the Houston order, customers are advised not to drink tap water unless they have boiled it for at least two minutes, then cooled it. Bottled water is suggested as an alternative.
