Bellaire police are investigating the theft of cash from a safe at Jax Grille, located at 6510 S. Rice Ave., after a complaint that more than $1,500 was missing on March 7. The theft was discovered at about 8:46 a.m., and the complainant told police it might have been taken by a new cleaning crew.
On March 10, two Bellaire police officers were dispatched to the Randalls Grocery Store at 5130 Bellaire Blvd, to respond to a shoplifting in progress. Store employees had observed a woman putting items into her purse, then watched her leave the store without paying. The woman was arrested for Class C theft.
On March 10, a woman who g in the Radio Shak store in the 5400 block of Bellaire Blvd. called police to report that her cell phone had just been stolen at about 4:45 p.m. The suspect was seen leaving the store, but left in an “unknown direction.”
Bellaire police are investigating several burglaries of motor vehicles in the city last week, including one case where a laptop computer was stolen out of a car’s trunk.
On March 7, police responded to a report of a vehicle burglary in the 6300 block of S. Rice, where an unknown person broke out the left rear side passenger window and gained access to the car trunk. The suspect or suspects then stole the computer.
On March 8, a resident of the 4700 block of Saxon Street called police to report a theft from his motor vehicle. The victim told police that sometime between 8 p.m. on March 7 and that morning, someone stole a black backpack and all of its contents from his unlocked car.
A resident of the 1100 block of Sheffield Street called Bellaire police on March 8 to report that a gray messenger bag and its contents had been stolen from her unlocked car the night before. The resident said the theft occurred sometime between 6 p.m. March 7 and that morning.
At least four people were arrested for driving while intoxicated in Bellaire last week.
In one case, the DWI charge was enhanced because there was a six-year old child in the backseat of the vehicle. That happened at about 6:30 p.m. on March 7th, when a Bellaire police officer stopped a car in the 4700 block of Laurel St. on a minor traffic offense. That driver was charged with DWI.
At about 4 a.m. on March 7th, the driver of a black Nissan Xterra failed to signal a lane change in the 4500 block of Bissonnet. The driver was charged with DWI and transported to the Bellaire jail.
At about 2:30 a.m. on March 10, the driver of a red Cadillac with Ohio license plates was observed with a broken left tail light in the 6300 block of the IH 610 westbound service road. After further investigation, the driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated and a passenger in the car was arrested for public intoxication. They were transported to the Bellaire jail.
Bellaire police made several arrests of drivers with invalid or suspended drivers’ licenses last week.
Those arrests included one case where the driver was charged with driving while intoxicated and without a valid license, which occurred in the 6500 block of IH 610 on March 11. The driver was arrested and taken to jail.
Bellaire police stopped the driver of a silver Mercedes Benz with a defective right tail light on March 8 in the 7000 block of IH 610. During the traffic stop, it was discovered that the driver had an invalid license and no proof of insurance. The driver was arrested and taken to jail.
Also on March 8, a driver in the 5000 block of Bellaire Blvd. was stopped for a traffic offense, and Bellaire police discovered that he had an invalid license as well as outstanding warrants from the Pearland police department and Harris County. The driver was arrested and taken to jail.
Another driver with a suspended license was arrested on March 8, in the 5400 block of Bellaire Blvd., and police also determined that he had no insurance. He was taken to jail.
A man who was fired from his job at a business in the 4300 block of Edith St. on March 13 became irate and struck a water fountain his his closed right fist. He was charged with criminal mischief.

You have to be kidding me. If thats the standard i should be serving a life sentence no parole. The employer that fired him must be a wimp. The police had no choice but to satisfy the wimp employer. Hope the jury has some common sense.
