Kroger To Provide Shoes For Disadvantaged HISD Students

Kroger has teamed up with the Houston Independent School District to provide $25,000 worth of Payless Shoe Source gift cards so elementary school children can start the new school year with new shoes as part of the “Shoes-4-Kids” project.
This project helps provide shoes to families that otherwise may not be able to afford them this year.
Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee will be a guest speaker during a special presentation at which the gift cards will be distributed to participating school principals from noon -2 p.m. Aug. 21 in the auditorium of Kashmere High School, 6900 Wileyvale, 77028. Noon to 1 p.m. will be a meet and greet luncheon, and the program will run from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.
KTRK’s Melanie Lawson will emcee the event, and Councilman Jarvis Johnson will be in attendance. Cheerleaders from Houston Garden Elementary and drummers and twirlers from Cook Elementary will perform
