Lamar High School will host a VEX Robotics Competition from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 22 at the school. There will be almost 20 teams from all over Texas, and several coming from as far as Mexico to compete. The teams of students built small robots, which can score three-inch cubes into goals under the control of remote-control drivers. The robots will also compete in a short autonomous period. Only a year old, the team aims to inspire and motivate students’ interest in science and technology through hands-on experience. For more information, visit their Web site at www.discobots.org.
