The Bellaire City Council may approve the final payment for the Bellaire City Library renovation project during tonight’s meeting.
The renovation project started in January after council approved an agreement with Gilbane Building Company for $257,000.
The project was delayed for six weeks after unforeseen structural problems were discovered on portions of the building during the mold remediation process. Council approved $45,428 to repair the problems.
Council also approved $29,000 in April for exterior improvements to the library.
The final payment to Gilbane Building Company is $46,686.26. The final payment reflects an increase in the initial contract amount by $80,791.

Some of the new features of the library include a new circulation desk, a new conference room and new bathrooms.
The library is equipped with a new air handler, air compressor, water heater and all new electrical work.
The improvements to the exterior of the building include painting, caulking, power washing, and replacement of one downspout, a new deck, minor masonry, awning replacement and general cleaning of the exterior.
Council also approved using recycle material on the deck and repairs and painting to the storage shed in the back of the building.
Council will meet at 7 p.m. in the council chambers, 7008 S. Rice Ave.
