Longtime local restaurant family expanding into Kroger center with 2 spots

Adair Concepts — proprietors of Skeeter’s Mesquite Grill in Weslayan Plaza, Betsy’s in Bellaire’s Evelyn’s Park, and Los Tios in Meyerland Plaza — will be opening two new but familiar restaurants in 2022 in Plaza in the Park at 5150 Buffalo Speedway at Westpark, better known to locals as the Kroger Center.

The announcement that outposts of Adair Kitchen would open in the spring and Los Tios in the fall came from EDENS, the firm updating the 1998 center to be more walkable and to feature additional outdoor spaces. A spokeswoman for Adair Concepts said the family-owned company — which includes offspring Nick Adair and Katie Adair Barnhart and parents Gary and Betsy Adair — would announce specifics later.

But the Plaza website shows Adair Kitchen going into the 5,640 square foot site formerly occupied by Vietopia (which has relocated to a nearby Southwest Freeway frontage location), and a source inside EDENS confirmed that Los Tios would be taking over the 7,573 square foot space currently occupied by Buca di Beppo.

This will be the second location for Adair Kitchen and the sixth for Los Tios. The future of Buca di Beppo and the Meyerland Los Tios, which is only about four miles from the new location, is unclear at this time.

The Adairs also own Eloise Nichols Grill + Liquors in the Highland Village area, and BODEGA Juice, Coffee & Bites in the River Oaks area.
