A couple students of musical theater from Houston will play large roles in Meet Me In St. Louis, a production by Theatre Under The Stars that runs Sept. 29 to Oct. 11.
The play at the Hobby Center is based on the movie musical of the same name. It follows the Smiths, a St. Louis family that experiences trials and triumphs at the turn of the century. The musical features well-known songs such as “The Trolley Song,” “The Boy Next Door,” and the classic “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”

Houston local Jacqueline Touchet, 8, plays Smith sister Tootie and 11-year old Houstonite Abigail Moorhead plays Agnes. Both Moorhead and Touchet are Academy Students at the TUTS Humphreys School of Musical Theatre.
Anneliese van der Pol fills the leading role of Esther Smith, the second eldest Smith sister made famous by Judy Garland in the MGM classic film. Van der Pol is known for her character Chelsea Daniels in the Disney Channel Original Series That’s So Raven, a role that developed a large fan base among young audiences.
The set of Meet Me In St. Louis includes a life-sized electric Trolley constructed at the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey, where show Director, Mark Hoebee, serves as Artistic Director.
Tickets (starting at $24) are available online at TUTS.com, by phone at (713) 558-8887 or in person at the Theatre Under The Stars Box Office, 800 Bagby.
