Christina Jackson, Lucas Aisenberg, Natalie Myers-Guzman, Lucas O’Conor and Nayeli Cabrera are finalists for the National Hispanic Recognition Program.

The College Board 2010-11 National Hispanic Recognition Program recently named five Bellaire High School seniors as finalists.

The NHRP was initiated in 1983 to identify outstanding Hispanic/Latino high school students.  This year, the NHRP is recognizing nearly 5,000 students selected from a pool of over 200,000 students who took the 2009 PSAT/NMSQT and identified themselves as Hispanic.

Students recognized by the NHRP are at least one-quarter Hispanic/Latino and have achieved a minimum PSAT score for their region.  Students with GPAs of 3.5 or higher are designated as Scholars, and those with GPAs of 3.0 to 3.49 as Honorable Mentions.  All five Bellaire seniors were named as Scholars.

National Hispanic Scholars are Lucas Aisenberg, Nayeli Cabrera, Christina Jackson, Natalie Myers-Guzman and Lucas O’Conor. O’Conor is also a National Merit Semifinalist.
