National Night Out Oct. 7, Police Available To Attend Block Parties

September 29, 2008 by Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

The City of West University Place Police Department will hold the 25th annual National Night Out between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Oct. 7.
The police department invites the neighborhood to “Light Up the City of West University ” by turning on their house lights and spending time with neighbors and law enforcement officials. Last year the event was held in August. This year, with expected cooler weather, resident groups are encouraged to organize/host “block parties” with their neighbors.
Officers from the West University Police Department, will be patrolling the area and visiting with each block party or gathering. Officers will be available to answer questions.
Residents interested in hosting a block party event should contact any officer prior to Oct. 7, or Crime Prevention Officer Allan Gomez at 713-668-0330, ext. 5869, or agomez@westu.org. Participants need to provide their name and address of the block party, and an officer will be assigned to attend the event.
