Nauert to be Sworn-In as Mayor Along with Newly Elected Council Members

Mayor-elect Phil Nauert, along with three newly elected council members will be sworn-in to office tonight at 7 p.m.

Municipal Court Presiding Judge Lisa A. Wesely will administer the oath of office to Nauert, position two councilman Jim Avioli, position four councilman Pat McLaughlan and position six councilwoman Mandy Nathan.

Nauert defeated mayoral candidate Robert Riquelmy in the Nov. 9 election with 1,015 votes to Riquelmy’s 161 votes.

McLaughlan defeated position four candidate Susan Downs with 845 votes to Downs’ 322 votes.

Avioli and Nathan both ran unopposed.

The term for mayor will begin on Jan. 9 and end on Jan. 6, 2014. The terms for the council seats will begin on Jan. 9 and end on Jan. 4, 2016.

Council will meet at 7 p.m. in the Civic Center, 7008 S. Rice Ave.
