New Bank Could Move In When Amegy Moves Out

July 6, 2009 by Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

Although representatives of the bank cannot confirm, reliable sources say that Texas Citizens Bank will move into the space Amegy Bank is scheduled to leave in September.

Amegy currently occupies about 2,580 sq. ft. of the 11,220 sq. ft. former JMH grocery store on the corner of Edloe and Rice, the rest of which sits empty. Amegy announced recently that they will leave the location and current customers will be moved to the Holcombe/Greenbriar Banking Center at 2303 W. Holcombe.

According to sources, Texas Citizens Bank will take over the remaining two or three year lease held by Amegy, and also sign an additional five-year lease.

Tom Watson, regional president, chief lending officer and organizing director of Texas Citizens Bank, says the bank is looking to expand, but cannot confirm a West U. location at this time.

Watson describes Texas Citizens Bank as a “private boutique” bank that has been in operation for three years. There are currently two locations open and one soon-to-open location in Rosenberg.

“We are looking at other opportunities in the Houston area,” said Watson.
