New Year's And Fitness Events At Children's Museum

January 4, 2010 by Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

New Year’s celebrations are being extended beyond the traditional one-night party this week at the Houston Children’s Museum. After that, the museum will focus on a popular New Year’s resolution — Fitness.
The museum invites kids and their parents to continue to celebrate the changing of a decade through Jan. 6. Activities include working New-Year-themed crossword puzzles and decorating calendars to take home. Special presentations at the Science Station will teach kids about characteristics of fireworks: noise, color, smoke and projection.
From Jan. 7 to 13, activities at the museum will focus on family fitness. Lessons will discuss exercise and healthy eating by incorporating fruits and vegetables. Hands-on activities will allow kids to create lap counters to keep track of walking, and to create fitness goals for the family. During special performances on Jan. 7 at 6:30 p.m. and Jan. 9 at 2 p.m., kids can join in a dance-inspired, interactive fitness performance.
The Houston Children’s Museum is located at 1500 Binz St. For more information call (713) 522-1138.
