
The concerns about the demolition of O’Reilly Auto Parts, 5134 Spruce St., in Bellaire, and outcry about the business’ future should subside: The store will rebuild at the same spot and is working with the city to meet the quirky development requirements for the Urban Village-Downtown area in which The chain’s original request for a variance to build a new one-story structure was rejected by the Board of Adjustment back in August 2020.
A spokesman for O’Reilly said it could be a year before the store reopens. In the meantime, employees have been temporarily relocated to sites in Rice Village, at 2522 Tangley St., and in the 6500 block of Bissonnet.
