Gov. Rick Perry has named Bellaire resident Richard Wendt III chair of the Texas Board of Licensure for Professional Medical Physicists.
The board regulates the practice of medical physics in Texas.
Wendt is a licensed and board certified medical nuclear physicist, and a professor of imaging physics at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and the Association for Computing Machinery.
Wendt is also a member of the Society of Nuclear Medicine, International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, American Association of Physicists in Medicine and Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine.
Wendt received a bachelor’s degree and Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago and a master’s degree and a doctorate in electrical engineering from Rice University.
