All Houston Independent School District principals and non-school employees will report back to work on Monday, Sept. 22, and HISD will begin reopening schools in phases beginning Tuesday, Sept. 23. Principals will report either to their school (if it is scheduled to open on Tuesday) or to their regional office, and teachers and other school-based employees will report to work one work day before their school’s opening date.
Schools already scheduled to be open Tuesday, Sept. 23, include Lamar High School, Pershing Middle School, Pin Oak Middle School, T.H. Rogers and Mark Twain Elementary. West U. Elementary is not yet on the list of schools to open Tuesday, and the list will be finalized Sunday.
Another cluster of schools will be opened Thursday, Sept. 25 with that list being final Tuesday at 5 p.m. At this time HISD is projecting that all schools will be open by Monday, Sept. 29.
