Police Say Drunk Driver Kicked Officer During Arrest

A 28-year-old man faces serious charges after he allegedly kicked a police officer on Saturday while he was being arrested for driving while intoxicated.

On Feb. 27, an officer saw Jon Blanchard driving too fast in the 4100 block of Bissonnet Street. The car also hit a curb and swerved between traffic lanes. During the traffic stop, Blanchard kicked one of the officers who was arresting him, according to the police report.

He now faces charges of driving while intoxicated and assault on a public servant.

Other incidents during the week of Feb. 22 to March 1 include:

  • On Feb. 22, a woman reported to police that someone used her credit card without permission.
  • On Feb. 23, an officer ran the license plate of an SUV and discovered the plate should have belonged to a Mazda sedan. The officer pulled the SUV over and found the driver had an invalid driver’s license. The man was arrested.
  • On Feb. 23, a resident in the 4900 block of Holt Street reported that someone broke into the home, but nothing was missing.
  • On Feb. 25, a resident in the 5200 block of Mimosa Drive reported that someone broke into the home and did steal items.
  • On Feb. 25, police arrested a man for possession of marijuana.
  • On Feb. 24, police responded to the Bellaire United Methodist Church because a man reported that someone broke into his car and stole his cell phone and a purse.
  • On Feb. 26, a woman in the 4900 block of Willow Street called police after she saw two suspicious men. Police searched the area and found two men who were hiding from police. They were charged with criminal trespass.
  • On Feb. 27, police found two juveniles in the 5100 block of Bellaire Boulevard who had started a fire behind a power generator. Police referred the boys to the Harris County Fire Marshall’s juvenile fire starter program.
