Police Turn Over Seven People Involved In Human Trafficking To Homeland Security

Bellaire police turned over seven people to Homeland Security on March 11 after pulling over a vehicle involved in human trafficking.

Bellaire police turned over seven people to Homeland Security on March 11 after pulling over a vehicle involved in human trafficking.

An officer noticed a suspicious pickup truck in the parking lot of Texaco Gas Station, 6512 S. Rice Ave. around 4:26 a.m.

The officer conducted a traffic stop in the 5100 block of Bellaire Blvd. and found that the driver of the vehicle was meeting a human trafficker to make an exchange of $1,000 for the release of his wife, police said.

Police located the suspected human trafficker in the parking lot of Home Depot, 5445 West Loop South.

Six people were detained, as well as the driver of the pickup truck, and turned over to Homeland Security investigators, police said.

This incident is under investigation by Homeland Security.
