Bellaire residents concerned about flooding may want to attend a meeting of the Bellaire Building and Standards Commission on Wednesday, August 26.
Gary Zika, Project Brays Program Manager, will attend the meeting to provide an update on Project Brays and the recent Memorial Day flooding. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. and the public is invited. The meeting will be held in the City Council chambers at Bellaire City Hall, 7008 S. Rice Ave.
Project Brays is a cooperative effort between the Harris County Flood Control District and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that is designed to reduce the risk of flooding. It is the largest, most significant flood damage reduction initiative ever managed by the flood control district, at an estimated cost of $550 million.
The project consists of more than 75 individual projects along the entire 31 miles of Brays Bayou.
