The City of Bellaire Planning and Zoning Commission will conduct a public hearing on the draft Comprehensive Plan document at 7 p.m. June 9. Interested residents, business owners and property owners are encouraged to attend and offer comment on the proposed document.
The purpose of a Comprehensive Plan is to establish a vision for the city over the next twenty years and provide realistic goals and achievable strategies; serving as a policy document to support the work of the City Council, boards and commissions and city staff.
A short presentation on the Comprehensive Plan is scheduled prior to the public hearing. The document was drafted by planning consultant Gary Mitchell of Kendig Keast Collaborative with substantial input from the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee made up of Bellaire residents. A public forum hosted by the city in February and numerous neighborhood meetings also contributed input to the draft plan.
The document may be reviewed online at the City of Bellaire’s Web site Comprehensive Plan page. Copies of the document are also available for review at City Hall in the Community Development Department and at the City Library.
