May 13, 2009 by Bellaire Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

The Planning and Zoning Commission continues to work on the draft Comprehensive Plan for the City of Bellaire, and will hold another workshop on May 19. The P&Z has tentatively scheduled a Public Hearing for 7 p.m. June 9 in the Council Chamber, 7008 S. Rice Ave. Once the document is forwarded to the City Council for action, another Public Hearing will be held prior to Council action on the Plan

The purpose of a Comprehensive Plan is to anticipate and guide future development trends in a manner that will provide a community with a balance of land uses that promote a superior quality of life. A Comprehensive Plan serves as a policy guide for the City Council, City boards and commissions and City Staff.

The P&Z will be reviewing the work completed by consultant Gary Mitchell with Kendig Keast Collaborative with the assistance of the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee.

The draft document completed to date can be found here.
