Registration ends next week for the West Houston Church Sports Association High School Basketball League hosted by Quillian Center, the recreation ministry of First Methodist Houston.
Registration closes next Tuesday, Dec. 23.
League games will be played Thursday nights starting Jan. 8 in the Quillian gymnasium, 10570 Westpark Drive at the Sam Houston Tollway. Game times will be 6:30, 7:25, 8:20 and 9:15 p.m.
All players must be enrolled in the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade and, in accordance with University Interscholastic League rules, may not be on a school’s basketball team.
Interested teams must register through Quillian Center. League fees are $600 per team, or $650 if the teams wish to order shirts through Quillian.
Teams may furnish their own jerseys for competition.
Officials and scores will be provided. Team rosters are limited to 12 players and cannot be changed after the second game of the season has been played.
Each team must have an adult coach, age 21 or over, responsible for the team and its conduct at each game. Quillian Center has a zero tolerance policy in effect throughout the season.
League fees include a seven-game season and a single elimination post-season playoff and awards for the league champion.
The tournament for the high school league will begin on Feb. 26, and the semi-finals and finals will be held on March 5. Only the first eight teams to complete their rosters, register and pay will be placed on the tournament schedule.
The church-based league will emphasize good sportsmanship and fair play. All games will begin and end with prayer.
