Registration is currently underway for the third annual Bikers Against Breast Cancer ride, which will Benefit “The Rose,” a non-profit breast cancer organization in Bellaire.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 7. On-site registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Riders can register online now at http://www.the-rose.org/2011_BikeRally.html.
The 45-mile trek will start at San Jacinto Harley-Davidson, 3636 E. Sam Houston Parkway, Pasadena and ends at Hooters - Pasadena. The cost is $25 to ride and $35 for a rider and passenger.
More than 400 riders are expected to participate in the event. The Bikers Against Breast Cancer ride has grown from 125 bikes raising $10,000 in 2009 to last year’s 311 riders raising nearly $40,000 for The Rose.
Organizers are currently enlisting sponsors and collecting auction items. Corporate sponsorships are available at $125, $250, $500 and $1000 levels.
New this year is the opportunity to sign on as a “ghost rider,” a person who will not be riding but wants to make a donation to support the organization that serves both insured and uninsured women.
“What a great way to celebrate the women in our lives who are survivors as we come together on Mother’s Day weekend to support The Rose,” said D’Etta Casto-DeLeon, event chair.
Current ride sponsors include San Jacinto Harley-Davidson, Hooter Pasadena, Silver Eagle Distributors, Best Buy, Mix 96.5, The Crim Law Firm, The Greensheet, SEG Productions, Burleson Florist, Beehive Florist, MyCityRocks, Slagwear, i Process Pink and Blue Knights.
