Residents Can Question City Council Candidates

October 13, 2009 by Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

Bellaire voters will get the chance Thursday to meet and question candidates who are running for city council.

The Bellaire Area Candidates’ Forum opens at 6:30 p.m. so residents can meet candidates, and the program begins at 7 p.m. The location is the Bellaire Civic Center Auditorium, 7008 S. Rice Ave.

Fourteen people are running for city council this year, which is an unusually large number. Voters will also choose among two candidates running for trustee for the Houston Independent School District.

“I hope all the Bellaire voters will turn out,” said event organizer Lynn McBee, while announcing the forum at the Oct. 5 city council meeting. “It will be the only opportunity to see everyone at one place at one time.”
