The Bellaire Recycling Committee hosted its second Bellaire Recycles Day on Saturday Nov. 13 at 7008 South Rice Blvd at Jessamine.
The recycling day was held in conjunction with America Recycles Day and Texas Recycles Day, which are both annual campaigns to raise awareness and educate residents on the economic, social and environmental benefits of reducing and recycling.
The event featured activities for kids, educational information and “green” eco-friendly goods and services.
The Bellaire Lions Club collected eyeglasses, READ for Houston (Recycle, Engage, And Donate) collected used books to deliver to centers that promote literacy through reading and mentorship programs in Houston. Shred-It was also on hand to shred and recycle unneeded private documents.
Other “green” eco-friendly goods and services, included: Whole Food Market, Junk Goes Green, RainTube Houston, Natural Care Cleaning, Batteries Plus, Texas Art Asylum, METRO, Bouquelle Cleaners Bellaire, Steinco Recycling Carts, InstantNewsBellaire and others.
The event had activities for kids, including a moonwalk, face painting, smash a can and bingo.
Friends of the Bellaire Library had its Fall Book Sale going on across the street in the parking lot at 5111 Jessamine.
