Honoring civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. on Jan. 19, students, faculty and staff from across the Rice University campus will partake in service projects throughout Houston through Habitat for Humanity and The Beacon.
About a dozen members of the university community will join Houston Habitat for Humanity in helping a single mom with four children complete the final stages of building her house from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
In downtown Houston, about 20 Rice students will help provide a warm meal and laundry services for the homeless from 11 a.m.-2 p.m at The Beacon. There, students will be preparing and serving food, bussing tables, washing dishes and doing laundry.
