Bellaire Rotarians treated shut-ins at the Com-for-Care assisted living facility to a festive holiday party, complete with music, cake, ice cream, cards, and presents as part of their Christmas SHARE project for 2011.

“It’s too easy to forget how isolated the elderly can feel during the hectic holiday season, so we like to share a celebration with residents at our adopted nursing home,” club spokesperson Nan Wagoner said. “We love connecting with all ages in our community.”
The special “senior” Christmas party is the winter portion of the club’s year-round Generations Project, which was started seven years ago by Rotarian Jesse Moreno of Advantage Funeral Services and has become an annual service project for the group.
Generations includes visits, cards, gifts, and treats by Bellaire Rotarians during major holidays, as well as occasional flower deliveries, to residents of an assisted living facility in Bellaire.
“In such a youth-oriented culture, we think it’s also important to remember the elderly, who suffer a lot of isolation,” Moreno said.
