Six Houston-area schools will offer H1N1 flu vaccines this Saturday, and supplies are expected to go fast.
The shots will be available Nov. 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The six vaccine sites are:
- Wheatley High School, 4801 Providence, 77020
- Yates High School, 3703 Sampson, 77004
- Westside High School, 14201 Briar Forest, 77077
- Milby High School, 1601 Broadway, 77012
- Woodson Middle School, 10720 Southview, 77047
- Jane Long Middle School, 6501 Bellaire, 77074
The primary focus is to vaccinate school-age children and other people in high risk groups. Those groups are:
- Pregnant women
- People with children younger than six months old
- Healthcare and emergency medical personnel
- Persons between the ages of six months and 24 years old
- People ages 25 to 64 years old who are at higher risk for H1N1 because of chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems
The Houston Department of Health and Human Services is partnering with the Houston Independent School District to offer the vaccines.
The Health Department also offers free vaccines on a first come, first serve basis at seven sites on Mondays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesdays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The vaccination sites are:
