Some Lots Of Children’s And Infant’s Tylenol Voluntarily Recalled

September 25, 2009 by Bellaire Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

McNeil Consumer Healthcare, maker of Tylenol, has announced a voluntary recall of certain lots of Children’s and Infant’s Tylenol after bacteria was detected in some raw material in one of the medication’s ingredients.

The recall covers only liquid Tylenol products manufactured between April and June of 2008.

The voluntary recall was announced in conjunction with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The company said it was implementing the recall at the warehouse and retail levels because examination of one of the inactive ingredients did not meet internal testing standards.

The manufacturer stressed packaged products shipped to retailers have met all company specifications.

The recall does not apply to Children’s Tylenol Meltaways and Junior Strength Tylenol Meltaways.

Anyone having potentially-affected products in their home, or parents who have questions, can contact the McNeil Consumer Call Care Center at 1-800-962-5357. Operators are available Monday-Friday 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Eastern Time.

Parents and caregivers who have given the product to their child or infant and have concerns should contact their child’s health care provider.
