A free one-day conference is planned for March 7 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 3471 Westheimer at Edloe, to provide insight, support and resources for caregivers in the Houston region. The conference includes 20 workshops on topics ranging from elder law, organizing the paperwork flood and managing medications to the roller coaster of emotions, financial challenges and how to manage new relationships, in addition to many other related needs.
The event begins at 8:30 a.m. and includes a complimentary lunch with registration, and exhibitors with targeted information and resources. To further support caregivers, St. Luke’s hosts an ongoing support group called “Common Ground: Caregivers Conversations” on the first Tuesday of each month from 10:30 a.m.-noon at St. Luke’s Center for Counseling and Life Enrichment across from the church.
Information about this group, which is open to all, is available by calling the Center at 713-402-5046.
“Hosting a free one-day conference on March 7 is one way to give back to those who give to others 365 days a year,” says Earl Schelp, Ph.D. President of Interfaith CarePartners, the organization co-hosting the conference with St. Luke’s. On Feb. 7, Schelp will deliver the opening keynote address titled, “Forgiveness in Caregiving.”
More information and online registration is available at www.stlukesmethodist.org/caregiver or by calling 713-682-5995.
