St. Luke’s United Methodist Church will hold an educational conference for family caregivers on Aug. 16 at the church, 3471 Westheimer at Edloe. Coffee and registration begin at 8:30 a.m. and workshops end at 2 p.m.
Empowering Caregivers: Planning and Perspectives is presented by Interfaith CarePartners and St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. Underwritten by Bridgeway Charitable Foundation, The Forum at Memorial Woods, and Good Earth Foundation, the conference is free to participants registering in advance.
More than 20 workshops will be held on subjects including: financing and legal issues,
avoiding and resolving family conflicts, housing options, home safety, balancing responsibilities, in-home help, care giving while employed or at a distance and managing medicines and paperwork
“Since the journey of care giving is often fraught with guilt, burnout and an anxiety about the unknown, St. Luke’s is teaming with Interfaith CarePartners to provide insight, resources and encouragement,” said Marlys Barry, director of Senior Adult Ministries.
To register or to request a brochure, call Interfaith CarePartners at 713-682-5995. Online registration is available at www.stlukesmethodist.org/caregiver.
