St. Thomas’ Episcopal Boys’ Cross Country Team Captures Second Place

The cross country state finals were held recently in Waco, and St. Thomas Episcopal brought in a second place win for the boys’ team sixth place for the girls’ team.
Competing against 18 teams, this was the boys’ best finish in the history of STE’s cross country program, that begun only a few years ago by Coach Bret Ramsey. Medalist Alex Miller, a junior, led with a fifth place finish overall—the highest of any runner at St. Thomas. He was followed by sophomore Andrew Coulter who placed 18, eighth grader David Miller who placed 25, and freshman Matthew Hawk who placed 31, as well as sophomore Michael Hrncir who placed 41 out of 130 runners. Also supporting the team were sophomores Bryan Tran and Jack Castellano.
The girls’ cross country team, finishing six out of 12 teams, was led by medalist Claire Coulter, a sophomore, who finished seventh overall, the highest of any high school girl runner at St. Thomas. She was followed by classmates Christine McGough who placed 23 and Jenny Pearsall who finished 33. Freshman Katherine Chase placed 44, seniors Emily Chase finished 58 and Catherine Finley placed 68 out of 93 runners.
