St. Thomas, Strake Jesuit Kick off New Season of Challenger Basketball and Cheer

January 9, 2012 by Bellaire Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

Challenger Basketball & Cheer had a great game at St. Thomas High School with co-hosts Strake Jesuit College Preparatory over the weekend.

St. Thomas Eagles and Strake Jesuit Crusaders varsity basketball teams and cheerleaders from both schools assisted the Challengers as they dribbled up and down the court, made passes, and shot hoops like the pros.

St. Thomas’ Athletic Director Mike Netzel was the announcer and the Eagles’ and Crusaders’ coaches helped while Principal Father Patrick Fulton said the invocation prior to the singing of the National Anthem.

St. Thomas then provided a pizza lunch for everyone.  National Charity League volunteers assisted with check-in and handed out goody bags and posters were made by the Class of 2017.

Athletes in Action and National Honor Society volunteers helped with set-up and clean-up and cheered the Challengers on throughout the game.

The next Challenger Basketball and Cheer game will be on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Episcopal High School with co-hosts St. Agnes Academy.
