Start searching for alternate routes: TxDOT will be closing all northbound and southbound mainlanes of the I-69 Southwest Freeway at the West Loop starting at 8 tonight (April 21), running through 5 a.m. Monday — along with shutting down a number of on- and off-ramps in the area.
The closings are part of the massive, $259 million multi-year interchange reconstruction project, and crews will be placing beams for the new I-610 southbound bridge, a critical element of the rebuild.
Connector ramps to and from the West Loop will also be shut down, as well as the entrance ramps to the Southwest Freeway from Weslayan, Chimney Rock and Fountain View, and the exit ramps to Fournace/Bissonnet and Chimney Rock. Click here to find TxDOT’s recommendations for detours.
Law enforcement officers will be on hand to assist with traffic control on what is expected to be a heavy travel time in the area, with three sold-out Taylor Swift concerts scheduled at NRG Stadium on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, expected to draw nearly a quarter-million fans total.
