State Rep. Sarah Davis has been awarded the Public Official of the Year award by the Building Officials Association of Texas.
BOAT honored Davis on Thursday, Aug. 18 during the association’s fall conference.
Davis was presented with the award for her sponsorship of House Bill 1354, which extended “Good Samaritan” protections to qualified municipal inspectors who volunteer to provide disaster response services and assessments at no charge during a disaster or state declared emergency.
While Davis successfully passed the bill out of the Texas House, it failed passage in the senate. Davis said she is looking forward to working to address the issues that proved to be obstacles to the bill seeing passage during the legislative session.
“I am honored to have received this award from BOAT,” Davis said. “Considering how vulnerable Houston is to hurricanes, tropical storms, and other weather phenomena, it is crucial we are able to rally as many individuals as possible in the event of responding to a catastrophic disaster.”
Davis represents West U, Bellaire, River Oaks, Braeswood Place, Southside Place, parts of Meyerland, Memorial, Montrose and the Texas Medical Center.
Well Done Sarah! You are definitely a State Rep. that is so easy to be proud of and thankful for.
