A man called police on Sept. 25 around 9:50 p.m. and said another man wearing a stocking over his face had robbed him of his wallet in the 5200 block of Bissonnet Street. The victim told police he was afraid, and also handed over his car keys. The suspect, a 6-foot-1 black male estimated to be 160 pounds, drove off in the vehicle, but police found it 15 minutes later in the 8800 block of Bellaire Boulevard.
An attempted aggravated robbery occurred on Sept. 21 at 2:30 p.m. Two people called police and said that two men had approached them with a gun and a knife. The victims, who were in the 5100 block of Spruce Street, told the officer that they ran away before the suspects could do anything. Witnesses saw the alleged robbers get in a green truck and drive away.
Six Bellaire officers descended on the 4400 block of Dorothy Street on Sept. 22 around 9:16 p.m. to respond to a home burglary in progress. The resident said he came home and saw someone in his house. The suspect ran out the front door. Police looked for him in the neighborhood, but couldn’t find him.
Two other building burglaries happened from Sept. 21 to 27. On Sept. 22 around 2 p.m., a resident in the 800 block of Woodstock Street called police to report someone had broken into his back door and stolen some items. On Sept. 25, a resident in the 4600 block of Locust Street reported that someone stole an air compressor from a shed.
A couple of car burglaries happened in the week. The first happened on Sept. 22 in the 5300 block of Bissonnet Street. Someone broke into the victim’s vehicle and stole her handbag from the back floorboard. The second burglary happened on Sept. 24 in the 4400 block of Bellaire Boulevard. The front passenger window was busted out, and the victim’s purse was gone.
Other incidents during the week include:
On Sept. 22 in the 5500 block of Newcastle Drive, a resident reported that someone had spray painted graffiti on the subdivision’s brick wall.
On Sept. 23 in the 4800 block of Valerie Street, a resident visited the police department to report someone used his personal information to open an account with an electric company.
A woman on Sept. 25 visited the police department to report that after checking her bank account online, she noticed someone had made an unauthorized purchase.
