Summer Sampler of Dance Free At Miller Outdoor Theatre June 12

The Houston Metropolitan Dance Company will present a free performance of Summer Sampler of Dance on Friday, June 12 at 8:30 p.m. at Miller Outdoor Theatre in Hermann Park.

Houston Met reveals for the Miller audience the world premiere of Elevated, a new work created for the company by choreographer Salim Gauwloos. Other audience favorites from the Houston Met repertoire include: Zoom by Pattie Obey; Jolt by Keisha Lalama-White, named one of the “25 to Watch” by Dance magazine in 2009; Chambre Noire by Nina Buisson; Stirring Simple Gifts in Shades of Blue by Caleb Mitchell; an excerpt of Not Yet Soaring (still confronting the ground) by jhon r. stronks; and for Houston Met Too, Release by Marlana Walsh Doyle.

Those who arrive early will see the dance documentary “Faces of Houston” by Ben Doyle prior to the performance.
