Appropriately enough, in time for Taco Tuesday, Torchy’s has announced details on the opening of its newest outpost, just a jalapeño-throw away from both West University and Bellaire.
Torchy’s has set its soft opening with a party from 5-8 p.m. Aug. 12 with free tacos, antojitos (that’s appetizers), beverages and merchandise giveaways.
The Austin-based chain has built-out about 5,000-square-feet of the old Chuck E. Cheese restaurant at 5537 Weslayan St. on the east side of Weslayan Plaza. The restaurant will include a full-service bar, and a patio will face Bissonnet Street.
It will be the chain’s 13th Houston-area location, the closest one to date being a much-smaller restaurant in Rice Village.
The regular opening is scheduled to follow on Aug. 14.
