Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples today announced that he would headline a Fort Bend County fundraiser for Senate District 17 candidate Joan Huffman. “We do not need Bill Clinton and Chris Bell teaming up trying to run Texas,” said Staples. “Joan Huffman is well qualified to defend us against their liberal Washington agenda. Joan’s proven record of service fighting crime, conservative positions on keeping taxes low, and strongly supporting private property owners’ rights represent the mainstream values of SD 17.” The Chris Bell campaign recently announced former president Bill Clinton will headline a fundraiser Oct. 13. “I am honored to have earned the support of Commissioner Staples” said Huffman. “Texas agriculture is an important industry in SD 17 and Fort Bend County. Commissioner Staples also defeated a liberal trial lawyer when he was elected to the Texas Senate, so he understands the importance of electing the strongest Republican to face Bell in a December runoff.” |
